Distressed, Limed or Painted...How different finishes can fit with a variety of Interior Design Styles

13 August 2010

It's fair to say that until recent years, if you asked the average guy on the street what he/she thought of 'distressed furniture' they'd probably answer that it's furniture that hadn't had a good life.  This is 'sort of' true, except of course distressed furniture is deliberately made to look 'Shabby'. After all, we don't all want Scandinavian, shiny flat packed furniture in our houses.

If your house is slightly quirky, older, or dressed with slightly order furniture, it can be hard to find, for example, an umbrella stand to fit with the rest of your household items. Where did you last see an umbrella stand for sale in the High Street? We have them!

The issue though is what look best fulfills your requirements. Our Shabby Chic products are generally painted products made to look a bit old. Our limed and natural products are just that - still a bit old looking (or at least, not like flat packed mass produced Scandinavian items) but they don't look like they are straight out of a country French residence necessarily.

Like all forms of art, the argument of which is best and which suits what you have already is totally subjective. We just hope you have as much fun deciding which to choose as we do when we think about where each and every product will eventually end up that we send out in our delivery vans!
